Learning facilities

As a leading and outstanding university, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) is committed to serve students with excellent learning experience by providing various facilities as follows:

  1. The university is equipped with 123 classrooms fully accessible during office hours from 07:00 AM to 17:00 PM. It also has as many as 70 laboratory rooms located in six faculties and a postgraduate school.
  2. UPI has a library with a collection of about 69,802 tittles or 143,836 copies. The library opens weekdays 08:00 AM – 17:00 PM, except Saturdays, it closes at 12:30 PM.
  3. Micro teaching rooms as means to:
    • nurture students’ personalities as teacher/educator candidates.
    • develop students’ pedagogical skill and professionalism in educational context.
    • prepare students with necessary skill and experience prior to their real teaching practicum program.
  4. Language Center

A Language Center equipped with modern facilities to support the learning of foreign languages (English, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, French, and German) for students, teaching and administration staff members, particularly those who prepare themselves to study overseas. The Language Centre also provides the teaching of Indonesian language for international students studying at this university.

  1. Centre for Counseling and Guidance which provides counselling services for students who have learning difficulties or those who want to find out their talent, interest, or for aptitude tests.

 

Information Technology

To support its commitment as a leading and outstanding university, UPI has comprehensive ICT facilities managed by the Directorate of ICT, called UPInet.

  1. UPInet has 3 functions; service, research and development, cooperation and marketing supported by access control system, WAP technology, Hotspot area, online research, fingerprint application, security control and website design. The missions of the Directorate of ICT are: (1) to develop and create infrastructure of information and technology needed by the university, (2) develop, provide and apply ICT-based system of information, (3) provide technical and non-technical services related to information technology, and (4) improve and provide professional manpower in information system.

    Some supporting IT systems include;
    1. Internet Access
      The academics of UPI can access internet of 5 MBPS (4 MBPS for international link and 1 MBPS for local link) supported by 400 computers around campus.
    2. Access Control system
      ACS is a computer-based system used to manage and regulate services by UPInet. The system is built to ensure effective and efficient services provided by this unit and to provide convenience and ease of work for both management and users. In general, this access control system consists of three sub-systems; security, services and administration, as well as control and monitoring. These sub-systems are defined in some work stations, i.e Gate Access, Workstation, Main Control, Printing, Class Operator, Information Center, Technical, Security and others. The conveniences obtained from the use of ACS are:
      • Setting the management of the workstation use
      • Storage management and document printing.
      • Information exchange management between users and managers.
      • Information exchange service between users, etc.
    3. WAP technology
      In addressing a rapid development of recent technology and hand-phone users, UPInet develops Wireless Access Protocol (WAP), which enables students and other stakeholders to access information through internet on their phones.
    4. Hot Spot Area
      Responding to internet technology without cable, a rapidly growing technology today, UPInet also provides wireless service system, which can be accessed through hotspots in buildings and other facilities around campus. The main objective of this service is to provide convenient and instant internet connection for all stakeholders, accessible anywhere and at anytime.
    5. Online Research
      Another application is online research, i.e an application in data collection for all academicians. This application enables users to collect a large number of respondents within a relative and affordable cost.
    6. Fingerprint application
      Fingerprint application is a technology that can be used for some applications such as staff attendance or to provide fast, massive, and accurate information.
    7. Security control
      The application is used to provide security staff with web cameras to monitor security condition around campus. This security technology UPInet develops has relatively low-cost.
    8. Website Design and Application
      This helps provide alternative solution to website creation, either for profit and non-profit institutions, from static to interactive web pages.
  2. Facilities of Computer Center is to support administrative service, academic or general. The service is almost entirely computerized.
  3. Facilities at Computer Education Center provides students with computer training particularly for students majoring in computer science and other students.

Student’s Supports

The university also provides some supporting facilities for students to have convenient learning and stay at campus.

  1. Convenient dormitories located in main campus and all regional campuses—PGSD Cibiru, Purwakarta, Tasikmalaya and Serang.
  2. Various scholarships provided by both public and private sectors which includes  Peningkatan Prestasi Akademik (PPA), Bantuan Belajar Mahasiswa (BBM), Bantuan Pendidikan Mahasiswa (BPM), Supersemar Foundation, Gudang Garam Ltd, Jarum Ltd, Toyota Astra Foundation, Aji Dharma Bhakti Ltd, Salim Foundation, Bank Indonesia, Hutasoit Foundation, Santoso Foundation, Japan Air Lines (JAL), Pindad Ltd, Bank Negara Indonesia, Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Social Science Foundations, etc.
  3. Life insurance and compensation for sick or died students.
  4. Student Center as a place to develop students’ managerial skills and to accommodate and develop their creativities.

 

 

Sports and Arts Facilities

To support students’ well-being, the university provide sports, arts and other leisure facilities as follows:

  1. Sport infrastructures which include sport hall, football fields for football, volleyball, badminton, basketball, softball, tennis, and swimming pool, to nurture and develop students’ talents and skills.
  2. KABUMI is an art group performed by students, lecturers, staffs and alumnus. The group has been performing in many international tours in countries such as England, French, Germany, Yugoslav, Belgium, Malaysia, and the United States. In September 2009, the group performed at International Folklore Performance in South Africa.
  3. Outdoor Theater used to perform various students’ art creations and sport activities.

 

 

Other supporting facilities

The university also has some other supporting facilities below;

  1. Al-Furqon Mosque, a big and beautiful worship center, Al-Furqan is committed to consistently hold various religious activities through its Islamic Study Center. 
  2. University Training Center, called Isola Resort which offers facilities of hotel and meeting room services located within the campus.
  3. Polyclinic which provides services in general health and dental-hygiene for students, teaching and administration staff members.  
  4. Bank BNI 46 which helps students, teaching and administration staff with their financial and banking necessities.
  5. Various canteens located in each faculty, provides affordable and healthy meals for students and other stakeholders.
  6. Official transportation such as bus, minibus, van, and cars to support students’ outdoor or field activities.
  7. Public phone with facsimile and telegram services.
  8. Assembly Hall with the capacity of 2,000 people for conference, arts performance and other public uses.
