Rectorate

As an organization, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia consists of several entities; top management, unit of academic affairs, administration, teaching staff, students affairs, and other supporting services (library, laboratory, etc). Top management includes rector and deputy rectors for university, deans of faculties, directors of graduate studies, heads of institutes, directorates, bureaus, study programs, and technical assistance units.

Top Management

At the top management level, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia is chaired by a rector, who is assisted by four Vice Rectors for academic and student affairs, finance, resources and general administration, planning, development and information system, as well as research, partnership and business. These top leaders are in charge of:

  1. arranging strategic plan for university goals, objectives, and programs;
  2. arranging work plan and annual budget;
  3. conducting the university roles in education, research, and community services;
  4. Supervising university financial management and its optimum allocation;
  5. Guiding and developing academic and non-academic staff at university wide;
  6. Organizing partnership with alumni, university wide, and community at large;
  7. Conducting university accounting and financial management;
  8. Reporting an annual progress of university performance to Board of Trustees; and
  9. Together with Board of Trustee, writing and submitting annual report to the Minister.

Board of Trustees

Academic Senate

Academic Senate is a university body which is responsible for the academic life of university. This unit consists of faculty representatives, Rector and Vice Rector, Deans, Head of Postgraduate School, Head of Research Management and Community Service Unit, Branch Campuses Representatives, professor and non-professor teaching staff members.

The Academic Senate of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia has the following responsibilities:

  1. Arranging university academic policies;
  2. Establishing university academic norms and benchmarks;
  3. Establishing the regulation for academic freedom and knowledge autonomy;
  4. Providing advice on the establishment and closure of departments, study programs, faculties and institutes;
  5. Designing the assessment policy for academic achievement, competency, and personality of academics;
  6. Designing the policy for a scientific, educational, and religious campus life;
  7. Making recommendations to Board of Trustees on the fitness of rector candidates.
  8. Electing the candidates of Board of Trustees from community, Academic Senate, and teaching staff;
  9. Supervising the university academic performance and quality;
  10. Providing recommendations to Board of Trustee on rector academic performance;
  11. Advising the rector on university strategic plan development;

To enhance the effectiveness of work performance, Academic Senate classifies its duties and responsibilities into some commissions as follow:

  1. Commission A is in charge of normative policy on curriculum development and assessment which includes education system, institutions, educational organization and support, facility and infrastructure, budget and educational unit as service center and output, guidelines for education cooperation, faculty management, postgraduate schools, branch campus, study program, vocational and profession programs, academic freedom, and knowledge autonomy.
  2. Commission B is in charge of normative policy on human development which includes personnel regulation, strategic plan arrangement, work plan, financial coaching program, assessment of academic achievement, scientific, educational and religious campus life, and guidelines for professor and Emeritus appointment.
  3. Commission C is in charge of normative policy on research and development which includes arrangement of research guidelines and community services, organization, and management, partnership with communities that may make reference for research results, development, and community services.
  4. Commission D is in charge of normative policy on developing quality standards, control system, and quality assurance which includes the management of academic performance of university, control system of academic quality, arrangement and development of academic quality assurance system.

Apart from its primary duties and responsibilities, Academic Senate organizes activities that relate to university academic policy and education in general. Therefore, Academic Senate cooperates with Board of Trustees, top university management, Audit Commission, Quality Assurance Commission, and Academic Senates from other universities.

At external level, Academic Senate members actively participate in building partnership with that of other universities, particularly those from universities with special autonomy (PTN-BH) in an association called Academic Senate Assembly. Members of this assembly come from all Indonesian universities with special autonomy which include Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Gajah Mada (UGM), Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Institut Teknologi 10 November (ITS), Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), Universitas Hasanudin (UNHAS), and Universitas Padjajaran (UNPAD).

Audit Commission

Audit Commission is an independent body in charge of evaluating the internal and external outcomes of university programs and activities on behalf of and for Board of Trustees. This commission assesses financial and academic performances of university. Based on the Decree of Board of Trustee No. 11/MWAUPI/2005 and 22/TAP/MWAUPI/2007 on the structure of organization, the Audit Commission consists of Head, Secretary, and some staff members.

Based on Article 22 regulation of governor No. 15, 2014, The Audit Commission of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia has the following duties:

  1. Establishing the policy of internal audit in non-academic;
  2. Evaluating the duties and responsibilities of university internal and external commissions;
  3. Reporting the evaluation outcomes of internal and external commissions to Board of Trustee;
  4. Conducting the risk management of university business with other parties;
