THE FOURTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON APPLIED LINGUISTICS
The Fourth Conference on Applied Linguistics (CONAPLIN 4) takes "Integrating Local Wisdom into Language Teaching" as its theme.
A dynamic resource of the lore that is possessed, developed, and sent out by a specified society is known as local wisdom. An adequate and appropriate local wisdom offers an improvement to a better life. The society integrates the local wisdom with their awareness of the environment, language, and culture. Some fields, such as healthcare, agriculture, and education, need such wisdom understanding to develop their decision making in the local basis. Because culture and language are inevitably inseparable, local wisdom can be brought into the classroom.
Second or a foreign language use and teaching are subjects to variation according to socio-cultural aspects of users and learners. So, in language teaching and learning, teachers, practitioners, and observers are now challenged to integrate language teaching with local wisdom residing socio-cultural aspects of learners. Since we are not only responsible for teaching the language, but also for preparing our students to be a more responsible and wise person.
Based on the description above, the conference aims to:
